Position Overview:

The ideal candidate will serve as a member of the Chamber’s dynamic in-house communications team as manager of Policy Communications. In this pivotal role you will spearhead the development and execution of strategic communication campaigns aimed at advancing organizational goals and driving change in the policy arena. This position will entail close collaboration with Chamber policy teams to effectively communicate and advocate for key priorities across various communication platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with internal clients and communication leaders to understand their objectives and craft strategic communication plans tailored to policy initiatives.

  • Use media relations strategies and media engagement to further campaign objectives and manage policy issues.

  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies, encompassing both long- and short-term goals, utilizing digital content, social media, earned media, advertising, visual media, and event support, among other tools.

  • Craft compelling social and digital media content to effectively convey key policy messages and engage target audiences across various platforms.

  • Lead media relations efforts by overseeing the drafting, editing, and distribution of press releases and media advisories, ensuring maximum visibility for policy initiatives.

  • Drive cross-divisional collaboration to maintain consistent branding and messaging across all communications channels, fostering alignment with policy objectives.

  • Orchestrate comprehensive data-driven communication campaigns, from initial ideation to metrics analysis.

    Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and relevant experience, preferably in a trade association, public relations agency, or Capitol Hill communications role, with a focus on policy communication.

  • Demonstrated expertise in navigating complex public policy and business issues and adept at translating them into clear, concise, and persuasive messaging.

  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of communications planning and execution.

  • Superb written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to articulate complex policy concepts effectively to diverse audiences.

  • Proficiency in social media platforms and a comprehensive understanding of the digital media landscape, leveraging these tools strategically to amplify policy messages.

  • Creative, innovative thinker with an entrepreneurial mindset, capable of driving forward-thinking approaches to policy communications.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and priorities under tight deadlines.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior-level executives, external contractors, and vendors.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, with experience using various communication software and tools.
