The Kaizen Company Localization Lead in Nepal

Kaizen is searching for a Localization Lead for the anticipated USAID Nepal Better Health Activity in Nepal. The goals of this activity are to support the three tiers of governments to improve the health system, especially around improved governance, improve demand-side barriers and accountability of communities in the health system, and improve quality of health care services at the facility and community level. The activity will focus on improving quality of care for maternal newborn and family planning services, prioritizing marginalized communities. The support will complement the USAID Health Direct Financing Project, improve readiness of health facilities and prepare the health system for the possible future health emergencies with increased coordination across three tiers of government.

Duties and responsibilities

The Localization Lead will serve as the team lead providing robust portfolio of tailored services to potential or current USAID/Nepal partners to assist them in becoming stronger actors capable of delivering better development outcomes. Identify gaps in currently available resources, tools, and tailored services that address partner knowledge and capacity strengthening, and design or recommend resources, tools, and tailored services to close those gaps as per USAID’s Local Capacity Strengthening Policy. Build, maintain and manage a team of consultants, capable of delivering services within the project’s scope of work, and ensure that the team delivers high quality work. Capture lessons learned and contribute to CLA practices that will inform service delivery process pivots as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree and at least 10 years of relevant experience

  • Experience working with USAID and familiarity with USAID policies and procedures supporting localization and local partnership development.

  • Demonstrated experience in capacity strengthening of local organizations, including in USAID compliance, experience working with Nepal Health organizations strongly preferred.

  • Familiar with collaborating, learning and adapting (CLA) practices.

  • Knowledgeable of Nepali public health organizations

  • Experience working in the field of maternal and child health and/or family planning preferred.

  • Must be comfortable working independently, taking the initiative once guidance is provided, managing several activities at once, and working under pressure to meet deadlines.

  • Proven experience in disseminating information to a variety of target audiences required.

  • Exceptional demonstrated written and oral communications skills in English.

  • Proactive as well as self-motivated and self-directed.

  • Nepali citizens are strongly preferred.
