NOTE: This posting will be used to fill one(1) position at either the Finance Specialist 2 or Finance Specialist 3 level depending upon qualifications of the successful applicant.

The Finance Specialist 2 or 3 position will independently plan and perform audits and special reviews as assigned by the Enterprise Internal Audit Director. This position will help agencies protect State assets with appropriate internal controls; recommend improvements in policies, procedures, practices and controls; provide assurance to management that proper controls, reviews, risk management and governance processes are in place; and provide consultative services to the enterprise on sensitive topics adding value within the enterprise.

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify for the Finance Specialist 2 applicants must possess:

Three (3) years of demonstrated professional level experience with concepts related to the design, knowledge and skills in applying accounting and auditing principles to include operational auditing techniques, governmental auditing standards, Information Systems Auditing Standards, generally accepted accounting principles, and management consulting services.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field may substitute for 1 year of experience

To qualify for the Finance Specialist 3 applicants must possess:

Four (4) years of demonstrated professional level experience with concepts related to the design, knowledge and skills in applying accounting and auditing principles to include operational auditing techniques, governmental auditing standards, Information Systems Auditing Standards, generally accepted accounting principles, and management consulting services.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field may substitute for 1 year of experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional designation such as a CPA, CIA, CFE, CISA, or CRMA

  • Experience with:

  • Internal control systems such as SOX, ERM, COSO or Green Book

  • Internal audit

  • Fraud prevention and detection

  • Teaching or training, including the design, execution, and maintenance of a high-level training program

  • Government policy and/or procedure development

  • Large and complex organizational structure
