Job Summary

The Commissioning CFPP and Coal Gasification Manager is responsible for overseeing the commissioning, start-up, and operation of a Coal Fired Power Plant (CFPP) and Coal Gasification Plant to ensure that it operates safely, efficiently, and reliably. This role requires a hands-on approach to supervise and coordinate with other functional groups, including construction, maintenance, engineering, and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the commissioning and start-up of a new CFPP, ensuring that the equipment and systems are installed, tested, and operated according to design specifications and industry standards.

  • Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations, company policies, and procedures.

  • Ensure the implementation of company's Safety Management System.

  • The Commissioning Manager shall be responsible for the supervision of the commissioning activities undertaken by the EPC contractor of the CFPP and Coal Gasification plant installations including performance test and reliability run.

  • Review and approve commissioning procedures detailing the process to be followed for each test.

  • Monitor commissioning schedule.

  • Supervise construction to commissioning handovers after mechanical completion.

  • Supervise the commissioning work performed by the EPC contractor.

  • Provide regular and ad-hoc reports on commissioning status.

  • Supervise the startup and initial operation of the subsystems and the plant as a whole.

  • Supervise the preparation and testing of the plants performance tests.

  • Lead regular site meetings and maintain accurate records and minutes.

  • Comply and operate to the highest standard with regards all Health, Safety & Environmental Regulations.

Management Responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.

  • Minimum 510 years’ experience in Commissioning of coal fired power plants, preferably CFB type with at least two project as the commissioning manager.

  • Extensive experience in handling of lock-out and tagging procedures.

  • Extensive experience in review and approval of test procedures, start-up and operating procedures, calibration certification etc.

  • Experience in working in various culture with all associated challenges.

  • Knowledge and practical experience in the commissioning, operation, or maintenance of coal-fired power stations, providing a broad base in traditional power generation technologies.

  • Rich experience with various OEM turbines, which may include installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

  • Fluent in English and Indonesia

Minimum Qualifications

5+ years of startup experience, with at least one previous assignment as a lead discipline engineer. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Physical Demands:

• Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.

• Stand, Kneel, Bend, Stoop, Move, and Walk long distances in and around confined, cluttered places, and uneven areas.

• Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties.

• Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls according to a set procedure.

• May require work above 5 feet in height.

• Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.

• Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.

• Requires working in cramped work spaces and getting into awkward positions.

• Requires working in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32F degrees) temperatures and exposure to inclement weather such as dust, wind, snow, rain, etc.

• Requires working in extremely bright or low lighting conditions

• Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.

• Work around hazardous equipment.

• Typical office environment.

• This position is considered a safety sensitive position.
