INTRODUCTION TO MULTI-ASSET STRATEGIES & SOLUTIONS

BlackRock’s Multi-Asset Strategies & Solutions (MASS) team is the investment group at the heart of BlackRock's portfolio construction, asset allocation, and active management ecosystem. MASS draws on the full toolkit of index, factor, and alpha-seeking investment capabilities to deliver detailed investment outcomes and innovative alpha insights. Our team of 550+ multi-asset investment professionals construct active asset allocation strategies and whole portfolio solutions across a wide spectrum of commingled funds, separate accounts, model portfolios, and outsourcing solutions in the wealth and institutional channels. Currently, MASS handles over $1 trillion in assets and has a strong presence in the Americas, EMEA and throughout Asia Pacific.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The successful candidate will be a member of the global MASS Business Management Team, partnering closely with the COO to support the day-to-day oversight of operations, design and delivery on critical initiatives, and on-going delivery of a robust and scalable operating platform.. Our team is seeking an individual with a strong intuition for business, experience in the investment industry, creative approach and consistent track record of successful execution and achieving results. A successful candidate will be a connector within the firm. Crucial team responsibilities include: Long-term planning and business reporting, oversight of the operating platform and building scale through operational improvement and technology, engaging in the day to day business and with key sponsors, and general project management for team initiatives.

In a 1BLK effort, you’ll also collaborate within and out of the MASS ecosystem including MASS senior management, Portfolio Managers, Product Strategy, HR, Finance, Operations, Aladdin Engineering and Legal & Compliance.

The MASS Business Management Team is looking for an individual with strong relationship management and technical skills, a demonstrated record of results delivery, an intellectual curiosity and a “get the job done” mentality. The ideal candidate will be a structured problem solver who can communicate effectively, one who possesses technical awareness and can support the growth of the business by methodical review of current state, design and implement future state employing technology as an enabler of scale.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategic Project Management - Lead critical initiatives by building & driving consensus with senior partners, including senior management, for the MASS & wider PMG platform related to portfolio management, trade and post trade operations, investment process analysis and technology implementation. Understand and be able to effectively manage resource requirements.

  • Operating Platform - Review and enhance the operating and technology platform for the global investment teams to drive scale and efficiency in the investment process as well as reduce operational risk for the firm. This includes navigating and running operating events and internal audits and the post-mortem actions. Ability to understand and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements while instilling a culture of compliance across the team.

  • Financial Oversight – Partner with Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and MASS business leads to ensure accurate and timeline financial reporting and adherence to expense budgets. Be able to communicate business plans, challenges, and opportunities to senior management for the purposes of business reviews and/or strategic funding requests.

  • Business Management – Be a key point of contact for business administration across the 550+ employees within MASS. Partner with internal teams (Operations, HR, Corporate Services, Finance) in handling day-to-day tasks and engaging with key leaders

  • Presentations and Reporting – Aid senior management in organizing and producing presentation material; coordinate across the MASS organization to provide content and commentary for reporting deliverables; oversee agendas and content for Town Halls and other group wide sessions.

  • Navigate and connect the dots across the firm, ensuring efficiency, scalability and risk management of the platform

  • Be a present and positive culture carrier for the team, with an approach toward facilitating business performance and growth

EXPERIENCE/KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years of experience in financial services or in a similar role

  • Demonstrated maturity, judgement and discretion. Strong emotional ownership.

  • Strong analytical, creative, writing, organizational and problem solving skills

  • Flexible, responsive and self-starting personality with keen attention to detail. Demonstrated experience working both independently and as part of a team in a highly collaborative environment

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to deliver presentations, coordinate with team members and senior leaders across the firm

  • Strong process awareness and ability to recognize and address operational risk issues.

  • Strong organizational, planning and time management skills including ability to function effectively within a fast-paced environment and multi-task

  • Strong, proven project management skills

  • Basic knowledge of the capital markets, asset classes, financial instruments (equities, fixed income and derivatives) beneficial

For California only the salary range for this position is $190,000 - $240,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.

Our hybrid work model

BlackRock’s hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration and apprenticeship that enriches the experience of our employees, while supporting flexibility for all. Employees are currently required to work at least 4 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 1 day a week. Some business groups may require more time in the office due to their roles and responsibilities.
