Job Summary

University of Utah David Eccles School of Business, Data and Software Solutions

The David Eccles School of Business is looking for a new leader for our Data and Software Solutions team. This team is responsible for all aspects of our SalesForce CRM maintenance and upgrade to Education Cloud, software tool integration with SalesForce; and all School of Business Institutional Reporting for strategic analysis, dashboards, accreditation, and rankings surveys. You will lead a remote group of 8 data analysts and SalesForce administrators, providing strategic vision for the D&SS team. Additionally, you will build and maintain relationships within the School of Business – Dean’s Office, Department Chairs, Program Directors, and other school leadership; and the campus at large – serving on the Strategic IT Committee and collaborating with the University Analytics and Institutional Research, Data Management and Analytics, and Registrar’s Office.

We are seeking highly motivated candidates with outstanding leadership skills and expertise in either Institutional Research or CRM management, and familiarity with the other.

This position requires tenacity, energy, exceptional communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

Primary areas of responsibility include:

  • Advising and assisting executive leadership team with data and metrics related to policy decisions and initiatives.

  • Administering business intelligence systems for departments, including integrating existing data sources, managing user roles, creating and automating reports

  • Analyzing and reporting on data related to employee workforce, using a variety of software tools including Excel, SPSS , R, SQL , and Tableau.

Awareness of the importance of software development release cycles and evaluating new software releases from vendors.

  • Managing the data team by determining project priorities, mentoring and training on systems and tools, and organizing performance evaluations.

  • Working with IT and vendors on system fixes, enhancements, etc.

  • Participating in University-wide committees to establish customer service standards and administrative plans and policies.

  • Creating and administering surveys and other research projects.

  • Organizing end user training for tools and systems.

  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures in areas of customer service, staff management and budgetary goals and objectives that are consistent with University of Utah’s policies in relation to the business intelligence function of department.

  • Marketing and promoting new and existing programs and services to internal and external customers.

  • Facilitating cooperative and collaborative community and institutional relationships.

  • Ensuring customer satisfaction by analyzing complaints, concerns and suggestions and providing appropriate follow-through.

  • Developing strategies consistent with departmental continuous quality improvement programs.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related area of assignment or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) and 5 years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of assigned department’s area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department.

Master’s degree in a related area may be preferred.

Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Preferences

  • Masters or PhD/EdD in a related field

  • Understanding of the role of data integrity and best practices with regards to CRM implementation

  • Ability to work with technical team members as well as communicate with and support less technical clients

  • Ability to create, communicate, implement, and execute on strategic vision

  • Ability to spearhead change management for school-wide initiatives

  • Ability to develop and manage team budget

  • Superior written, and verbal communication and presentation skills.

  • Prior experience in Higher Education
