Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. The products our portfolio include Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. ​​Within Azure Data, the databases team builds and maintains Microsoft's operational Database systems. We store and manage data in a structured way to enable multitude of applications across various industries. We are on a journey to enable developer friendly, mission-critical, AI enabled operational Databases across relational, non-relational and OSS offerings.​

​​The Azure Databases Service Security team is hiring a Principal Program Manager to assist with the project management and technical specifications for operational and functional security initiatives of the Azure Databases organization. The Azure Databases scope includes SQL Server, Azure SQL DB, Azure CosmosDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and all other relational offerings. In this role, you will have opportunity to collaborate with a corresponding blue (defensive) and red (offensive) security engineering teams as well as the broader Azure Data and Azure Security organizations. You will be on the front lines of the discovery and remediation of new security vulnerabilities. Azure Databases is a multi-billion dollar business with millions of databases deployed and exabytes of data stored. Keeping this business secure is of utmost important to Microsoft. Responsibilities

  • ​Distill high level security guidance from key point indicators and initiatives into actionable steps to be taken by the Azure Databases organization.

  • Track security incidents and repair items across the Azure Databases organization.

  • Prioritize, plan, and track security initiatives across the Azure Databases organization.

  • Work closely with the red and blue teams to proactively identify potential risks and detections.​

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • ​​Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • 1+ years experience in a security-focused role.​

Other Requirements

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

  • ​​Communication and collaboration skills.

  • Prior experience in database technologies.

  • Prior experience in executive presentation.

  • Prior experience working in a large, matrix organizational structure.​

Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
