Overall Responsibility:

Operate light and heavy equipment. Perform maintenance duties. Perform mechanic duties

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Operate light and heavy equipment

Operate snow removal equipment

Drive transport and hauling equipment

Operate earth moving equipment such as back hoes, loaders, and graders

Perform maintenance duties

Install and maintain county road

Plow snow

Patch roads

Lay oil

Install and repair culverts

Lay cement, mix mulch

Install and maintain marker posts and signs

Maintain landfill

Lay out work for concrete

Perform mechanic duties

Repair and maintain all road department equipment

Perform related activities as required

May require emergency call outs (wild land fires, floods, and other natural disasters)

Skills and Attributes:

Mostly routine issues involving equipment operation, but periodically complex issues involving

road surfacing, application or road materials

Requires quality work performed accurately

Good communication skills required, involves giving and obtaining information

Must possess good public relation skills

Experience Requirement:

Class A CDL -- doubles, triples & tank endorsement

Requires two (2) years road/heavy and light equipment operation experience

Willing to obtain other necessary certifications including but not limited to wild land fire.

Physical Effort/Environment:

Work in extreme heat and cold

Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information

Average, ordinary visual acuity necessary to operate machinery

Requires lifting heavy objects over 25 pounds and up to 100 pounds frequently
