THE POSITION

Delve into a rewarding career in mining reclamation with exciting opportunities to make a positive impact on the environment! As the Grant Coordinator, you will coordinate grant project work on a watershed basis to reclaim land and treat waters within the bituminous coal region of Pennsylvania for the Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation’s Abandoned Mine Land and Acid Mine Drainage Grant Program. Join the Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation in their mission to reclaim abandoned mine lands and address acid mine drainage issues in Pennsylvania!

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Grant Coordinator with the Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation, you will oversee Abandoned Mine Land and Acid Mine Drainage (AML/AMD) grant program projects in the bituminous region. Your duties include reviewing and monitoring grant applications, coordinating work with the bureau’s technical staff, tracking and reporting grant funding, and coordinating abandoned mine land and abandoned mine drainage work with other grant programs.

Your responsibilities will include coordinating the review process for grant applications by communicating with the bureau staff and the Grant Program Manager to ensure AML/AMD grant program applications are processed in a timely manner. Potential grant projects, proposed scopes of work, and project improvements will be reviewed and discussed with applicants before applications are submitted.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment

  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Ebensburg.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Seven years of experience in environmental protection, environmental regulation, or resource conservation which includes three years of experience in a professional capacity; or

  • Three years of professional experience in environmental protection, environmental regulation, or resource conservation and a bachelor’s degree in biological or environmental science, environmental protection, resource conservation, engineering, or a closely related field; or

  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes three years of professional experience in environmental protection, environmental regulation, or resource conservation.

    Special Requirements:

  • You must possess an active motor vehicle license.
