JOB TITLE: Medical Technician I (Float)
SALARY RANGE: $52,000-$55,000
HAY POINTS: 301
SCHEDULE: Monday- Friday ( Start time varies 8am-9am)
1-2 times a week will need to start at 5:30AM ( Grand Central Location)DEPT/DIV: Safety & Security/Occupational Health Services (OHS)
SUPERVISOR: Manager, Rail Testing
LOCATION: 300 Old Country Road, Mineola, NY and 420 Lexington Ave, New York
Position will float between both locations listed aboveSUMMARY:
This position is responsible for administering drug, alcohol, and saliva tests to all employees and pre-employment candidates as required under the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and Federal Transit Administration (FTA), Long Island Rail Road, and Metro North Railroad policies and guidelines.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collect specimens for drug, alcohol and saliva tests
Perform daily calibrations of all equipment used for testing
Collect blood specimens as needed
Perform data entry on all collections obtained
Stock work area with supplies as needed
Perform daily audits on all data entries
Provide daily Lab Activity Reports to immediate supervisor
Participate in the Mobile Collection Program
Perform off-site tests at various hospital locations
Provide testimony and/or affidavits for hearings and trials
Interact with Designated Employer Representatives (DERs), Medical Review Officers (MROs), and Physicians.
Performs diagnostic tests (audio tests, EKGs, spirometry, etc.)
Perform other duties as required
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent (GED) approved by a State's Department of Education or recognized accredited organization.
Requires a minimum of three years' experience as a Laboratory Technician or related field.
Phlebotomy skills required.
Knowledge of DOT/FRA and FTA regulations and collections is desirable.
