The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Finance & Administration, the incumbent is responsible for the pre-and post-award management of grants and contracts in the Columbia Nano Initiative, including the financial management of multiple SRC centers. This position will work closely with other pre- and post-award managers to provide comprehensive project lifecycle management and services for a subset of the department's faculty PI's, including but not limited to proposal preparation, submission, post-award set-up, annual expense validations, grant reporting, and closeouts while performing other related duties. Working closely with the SRC Center Directors oversees the financial management of the department's three SRC Centers.

Responsibilities

  • (20%)Closely working with faculty PIs and senior award managers to prepare competitive proposals for submission to agencies with tight turnaround frames, including gathering and collation of data and information, a compilation of support documentation, proofreading, budget preparation and submission through RASCAL, InfoEd, Grants.gov, and other agency channels.

  • (60%) Serves as a liaison between PI's, sponsoring agency contracts officers, program coordinators, SPA, SPF and research compliance, and other university offices. Provides timely and accurate pre- and post-award support. Works closely the SRC center directors to oversee the financial operations of the department's three SRC Centers. Maintains knowledge of grants and sponsored agency guidelines and ensures timely management of funds in support of research goals of sponsored projects in accordance with Uniform Guidance and University policies. This includes monthly billing and reconciliations, preparation of salary distribution forms to ensure correct effort allocation to PI projects, expense validations, budget tool submissions, and project closeouts.

  • (15%) Under the guidance of the Finance Manager, prepares budget-setups, project re-budgets, processes I-PASS requests, extensions and subawards. Reviews and ensures timely receipt and payment of subaward invoices, and works with senior award managers to ensure timely reporting and billing on sponsored projects and contracts.

  • (5%) Performs other tasks, duties, and responsibilities as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree.


Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in business, accounting, management, grants management, or related field.
Skills and Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Suite; experience with Oracle financial system, AP or other financial systems; ability to multi-task and prioritize essential; advanced writing skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Master's degree, preferably in business, accounting, management, or related field.


Experience: Familiarity with federal grants & contracts management is highly preferred, knowledge of Uniform Guidance and federal compliance policies will be considered an advantage.


Skills and Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of Excel, familiarity with pivot tables and formulae, familiarity with Oracle financial systems such as ARC, editing and proofreading experience a plus
