Robert Half Accounting Assistant in New York, New York

Description We are looking for a meticulous Accounting Assistant to join our team in New York, New York. In this role, you will be tasked with managing various accounting functions, including but not limited to Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR). You will be working in a dynamic environment where your skills in using various accounting software systems and Microsoft Office suites will be crucial. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate recording of payments, reconciliation of accounts, and efficient data entry. This role offers a short term contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure all incoming payments from customers are accurately recorded and correctly allocated within the accounting system

• Regularly reconcile accounts receivable transactions and effectively resolve any discrepancies that may arise

• Proactively monitor overdue accounts and initiate collection activities to recover outstanding balances

• Maintain precise financial records by entering data accurately into the accounting system

• Uphold company policies and adhere to applicable accounting standards

• Process customer credit applications with accuracy and efficiency

• Maintain accurate customer credit records and handle customer credit inquiries

• Monitor customer credit accounts and take appropriate action to collect delinquent payments

• Perform various billing functions and manage cash activity

• Carry out account reconciliation and credit-related functions. Requirements • Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems

• Familiarity with ADP - Financial Services

• Experience with Great Plains (GPAC)

• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suites

• Understanding of Accounting Functions including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Knowledge of Billing Functions and Cash Activity

• Able to handle Account Reconciliation tasks

• Experience with Credit-related tasks

• Ability to work in a team and independently

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field is preferred

• Proven experience in an accounting assistant role or similar

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
