Job Summary

This role leads the council’s overall strategic planning process, working as a partner and collaborator to the Executive Team and Board of Directors. With skills in market assessment, outcomes and business analysis, and strategy design, the Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer will lead a cross-functional team through multi-year planning and evaluation, ensuring Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee anticipates the emerging needs of youth and evolves its operational approach to meet those needs. In that, the Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer directly manages functions including communications, fund development, data reporting and evaluation, and board support.

As a thought leader, the Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer is responsible for creating a strategic communication and marketing plan to increase visibility in the region to increase girl and adult membership and gain financial and community support. The Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer is responsible for developing, enhancing, and maintaining the Council’s image and brand by creating, implementing, and managing strategies for public relations, communications, and social and written media to further enhance support.

The Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer is also responsible for the generation of funds in support of the Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee by designing, planning, leading, and growing innovative development efforts with a focus on major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, donor recognition, cross-sector marketing, and different funding campaigns. This position is responsible for leading the planning, implementation, and execution of comprehensive fundraising programs with multi-million dollar development targets.

Job Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in communications, sales, and marketing, or other related fields.

Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional teams and a budget.

Proven ability to manage complex and highly confidential information for an organization.

Computer and Microsoft Office software proficiency is required.

Excellent human relations, verbal and written communication skills, motivational and conflict resolution skills. Ability to encourage consensus and teamwork.

Innovation and creativity in developing funding, communication, and operational strategy.

Strong skills in analyzing data, and in organizing and planning multi-faceted projects from conceptualization to evaluation.

Current valid driver’s license, proof of vehicle insurance, and transportation availability.

Ability to work with a diverse group of staff and volunteers.

Possess a professional attitude and strong work ethic.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Possess a professional attitude and strong work ethic with exceptional customer service skills.

Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule including some evening and weekend work.

Ability to be a self-starter, innovator, and risk taker.

Must be detail-oriented and able to manage large-scale transformation changes.

Willing to travel throughout the GSMT 39-county jurisdiction.

Strong belief in the mission of Girl Scouting and the ability to convey its importance to the public.

Ability to pass a criminal background check including a motor vehicle report.

Organized, independent thinker and self-starter.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Valid Tennessee Driver’s License and state-required proof of insurance.

Must have reliable transportation.
