The principal function of an employee in this class is to perform standard maintenance and mechanical duties. The work is performed under the supervision and direction of an assigned supervisor, but considerable leeway is granted for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative. The nature of the work performed requires that an employee in this class establish and maintain effective working relationships with the assigned supervisor, other City employees, and the general public. The principal duties of this class are performed in an indoor and outdoor environment in a variety of terrains and weather conditions.\ \ WHAT YOU WILL DO:\ ROLE SUCCESS PROFILE\ Key Job Accountabilities:\ Maintains buildings and grounds by painting repairing fixtures and equipment.\ Assists with maintaining and repairing electrical, plumbing, janitorial, and mechanical equipment, including testing for electrical equipment failure and performing recurring maintenance.\ Performs various general building maintenance and repair activities, including cleaning, ground maintenance, painting, wall patching, flooring repairs, and office relocations.\ Assists with HVAC, electrical, and plumbing projects.\ Performs preventative maintenance activities on plumbing, electrical fixtures, doors, fountains, safety equipment, and mechanical equipment.\ Utilizes hand and power tools such as saws, drills, and wrenches.\ Assists with installation, modification, construction, maintenance, or repair actions in response to inspections or work orders.\ Operates and maintains various equipment, including trucks, hand tools, power tools, electronic test meters, janitorial equipment, and other trade-specific equipment.\ Assumes responsibility for other duties as required or assigned and attends meetings, conferences, workshops, and training sessions and reviews publications and audio-visual materials to become and remain current on principles, practices, and new developments in assigned work areas.\ Keeps immediate supervisor and designated others accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems.\ Responds to citizens questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner.\ Communicates and coordinates regularly with appropriate others to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of interdepartmental operations and activities.\ Is punctual and timely in meeting requirements of performance, including attendance standards and work deadlines.\ Communicates information and states concerns clearly and professionally.\ Respect the opinions of others and demonstrate a reasonable relationship with employee , supervisors, and others.\ Accepts and performs in a timely and effective manner changes in work assignments and/or how work is performed.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:\ Education, Experience Level, Certification Requirements:\ High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required.\ Two plus years of experience in Facilities Maintenance and/or any combination of experience and training that provides the equivalent scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.\ Valid State of Idaho Drivers License.\ Building Operator certification with the Intermountain Building Operators Association (IBOA) or equivalent training/education is preferred.\ Must be able to pass an extensive background check, a pre-employment drug test, and a polygraph test.\ Knowledge:\ Some knowledge of basic facility maintenance techniques, materials, safety practices, and equipment related to the work, including hand and power tools and equipment used in maintenance work.\ Some knowledge of co
