FERGUS COUNTY COUNCIL ON AGING Executive Director in LEWISTOWN, Montana

SUMMARY

Independently and under the direction of the Board, lead, guide, and direct senior programs and services.

Develops and maintains a comprehensive and coordinated service delivery system to area seniors and individuals with disabilities.

Ensure financial stability and explore opportunities to supplement the programs through community outreach and grants.

Understand and provide support, maintaining strong relationships with staff, program participants, and the community.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinates with the Fiscal Business Manager, Board, and staff in developing budgets, goals and objectives, and operation of FCCOA within its guidelines.

Acts as the technical advisor to the Board of Directors, appraises the board of policy revisions and coordinates monthly meetings with the Chairperson of the Board.

Hires, supervises, evaluates, and delegates responsibilities to all personnel to work with and on behalf of older individuals and those with disabilities.

Negotiates agreements and monitors operations on contracted services.

Markets FCCOA activities and programs and oversees fundraising and grant opportunities.

Responsible for the overall management of the Central Montana Community Center.

Develops and promotes effective practices in the field of aging and collaborates with area and state agencies on aging.

Secures grant funding, as it comes available, to enhance COA services.

Directly supervises all department managers.

Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of all units within the agency.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accord with the FCCOA policies, applicable laws, grant requirements, and best practices for our non-profit organization. Including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have exceptional communication skills and good rapport with senior citizens.

Must have strong leadership skills.

Ability to multitask.

Knowledge of aging services and issues.

Ability to relate to a wide variety of personality types including individuals with disabilities.

Holds a valid Montana Driver?s License.

Experience or knowledge of grant funded accounting.

Knowledge and experience in accounting or nonprofit accounting preferred.

Knowledge of Word, Excel and Quick books or other accounting software.

Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security preferred.

Knowledge of non-profit organizations, their governance, and challenges.

BA in Human Services or related field preferred, or equivalent experience and education.
