BURN MANUFACTURING Manufacturing Engineering Manager - DRC in Kinshasa, United States

About the Role:

BURN is looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager in Kinshasa DRC, who will be responsible for:

  • Leading and managing all manufacturing engineering, tooling maintenance, expansion activities, and new products and process introduction activities.

  • Ensuring that BURN’s engineering global standards are followed and adhered to within the  engineering organization.

  • Collaborating with various engineering departments at BURN DRC and Kenya's head office to ensure that BURN is meeting its goals.

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Leading and managing the new product introduction projects.
  • Leading and managing the facility and assembly layouts implementation projects which includes managing the in-house and the outsourced supplies and services related to the projects.

  • Facility Layout review and continuous improvements – in conjunction with the head of operations excellence, the global facilities manager, and the CTO.

  • Leading and managing the new process development processes projects – in conjunction with the head of operations excellence, the head of manufacturing, and the CTO.

  • Leading and managing all engineering change implementation projects.

  • Process Flow review and continuous improvements.

  • Managing, and updating the capacity and utilization models.

  • Leading line Balancing, cost reduction, and time studies activities.

  • Leading the technical validation and identifying the technical SOW for suppliers, vendors, and contractors.

  • Ensuring the implementation, and compliance with BURN’s global standards and SOPs   related to the engineering activities.

    • Supervise, train, and direct an engineering team responsible for manufacturing engineering,   and production tooling maintenance.

    Skills and Experience:

  • Graduated from Mechanical/Industrial engineering school.

  • 8-10 years of experience in manufacturing, at least 5 years in sheet metal factories and/or manual product assembly lines.

  • At least 3 years of experience in managing an engineering team.

  • Conversant with CAD software, e.g., Solidworks, and AutoCAD.

  • Capable of reading engineering drawings and a good understanding of tolerances and allowances.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Strong MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

  • Fluent in French and English - The role is open to both locals and ex-pats who are fluent in both French and English

  • Fluency in the Lingala language is preferred.

  • Lean Six Sigma green belt holders are preferred.

  • PMP-certified candidates are preferred.
