Summary:

The Communications Specialist will work with the communications team to maintain communications and marketing initiatives including writing, designing, and generating content. The work requires flexibility, agility, and close attention to detail. The specialist will maintain a consistent style and tone throughout all their communications and marketing products utilizing Goldbelt Branding standards.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Collaborate with internal teams to align communication strategies with business objectives.
  • Create compelling and engaging content for various platforms, including website, social media, press releases, and internal communications. Ensure content is accurate, consistent, and in line with the Goldbelt's tone and style.
  • Continually research and evaluate marketing materials in the ANC and federal contracting market segments and propose updates and changes to keep Goldbelt's image and brand progressive.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers.
  • Proactively pitch stories and press releases to relevant media contacts.
  • Work with the Marketing team to manage and grow our social media presence across platforms.
  • Work with the Human Resources Specialist to develop and execute internal communication strategies to keep employees informed and engaged.
  • Coordinate company-wide announcements, events, and initiatives.
  • Work closely with internal departments and subsidiaries to ensure cohesive messaging and integrated communication efforts.
  • Secures, records, preserves, and keeps documents and records maintained that have historical or important significance for individuals or organizations related to Goldbelt.
  • Converts and preserves materials in a digital format for long-term storage and preservation.
  • Organizes and catalogs records and prepare them for public access and storage.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of digital marketing, social media platforms, and content management systems.
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically to develop innovative communication approaches.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with a keen eye for detail and grammar.
  • Ability to embrace change, learn quickly, and thrive in a dynamic corporate environment.
  • Skill in working harmoniously within cross-functional teams to achieve common objectives.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with keen attention to detail.
  • Must have the ability t communicate effectively and diplomatically, both verbally and in writing, with co-workers and with outside agencies, partners, shareholders, and business associates
  • Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity, with the ability to adapt messages and strategies for diverse audiences.
  • Good understanding of relevant software, tools, and systems used in the corporate environment. This includes a proficiency in standard software applications, including Windows and MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field or equivalent years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum four (4) years of related experience.
  • Proven experience as a Communications Specialist or similar role in a corporate or agency setting.
  • Proven experience in writing and content creation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in crisis communication and media relations is a plus.
  • Experience using Wordpress.
  • Previous experience working with Alaska Native Corporations (ANCs) and/or previous exposure to Alaska Native cultures.
  • Previous government contracting experience.

The salary range for this position is $66,000.00-$90,000.00 annually.
