The Senior Data Governance Specialist is responsible for designing and developing the company's data infrastructure and will be required to leverage skills and expertise to introduce new ideas and improve on existing solutions in line with established frameworks and governance. This role will play an important part in how we shape and perform data governance and develop and implement data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to establish data governance best practices across NTT.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Networks with various stakeholders to analyze data requirements, develop data models, and ensure the integrity and security of our data infrastructure.

  • Accountable for defining how the data will be stored, consumed, integrated and managed by different data entities and IT systems, as well as any applications using or processing that data in some way.

  • Create a data governance framework to meet business and technology requirements while ensuring data security and compliance with regulations, and ensure it is integrated in relevant processes and part of how we operate across the organisation.

  • Work across multiple teams for the optimization of data storage and retrieval, enhance data quality and governance, and guide the organisation in making informed data-driven decisions.

  • Accountable for translating business requirements into databases, data warehouses, and data streams, collaborate with other teams and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and design appropriate data models and structures.

  • Design and implement data integration and data flow processes to ensure efficient data movement across different systems and platforms.

  • Accountable for analysing, planning, and defining data architecture framework, including security, reference data, metadata, and master data.

  • Accountable for defining and implementing data governance policies and procedures to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security.

  • Work across multiple teams for the planning and facilitation of data governance communities, workshops, and meetings.

  • Accountable for developing and maintaining the data governance training setup and ensure data governance roles and relevant business partners are trained and onboarded.

  • Create and implement data management processes and procedures.

  • Analyse existing data systems and identify opportunities for improvement, recommending innovative solutions to enhance data management and analytics capabilities.

  • Accountable for defining and maintaining data standards, data definitions, and data dictionaries to ensure consistency and interoperability.

  • Work across multiple teams for the definition of technical standards and guidelines that pertain to data and information use, security, access and governance (including defining accountabilities in support of data quality mandates).

  • Accountable for defining a standard common business vocabulary, expresses strategic data requirements, outlines high level integrated designs to meet these requirements, and aligns with enterprise strategy and related business architecture.

  • Create diagrams showing key data entities and create an inventory of the data needed to implement the architecture vision.

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong understanding of data governance, data integration, data quality, data lifecycle processes and data management best practices, and how these impacts business performance.

  • Enterprise-wide view of the business and strong appreciation for strategy, processes and capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance.

  • Seasoned in preparing, facilitating, and driving forums, communities, workshops, and meetings with people across various levels of the organisation.

  • A capable change agent and communicator knowing how to demonstrate the value of Data Governance, create organisational buy-in and get the organisation to understand data governance

  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with team members, contributing to their success

  • Ability to build relationships, manage business partners and navigate with ease at all levels of the organisation from senior management to specialists

  • Specialist in developing communication and training materials and training people in Data Governance.

  • Strong understanding of IT domains of information, security, application, technology infrastructure and integration

  • Problem-solving and analytical capabilities to safeguard data integrity, security, and organisation

  • Strong understanding of data security and privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and experience implementing data protection measures.

  • Strong understanding of data modelling techniques, data warehousing concepts, and database management systems

  • Seasoned in SQL and experience with database development and performance optimization

  • Specialist in data visualization tools and techniques

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in either Information Systems or Computer Science

  • Certifications in data management or related areas (e.g., DAMA Certified Data Management Professional)

Required Experience:

  • Advanced demonstrated experience working as a Data Governance Specialist or in a similar role

  • Notable demonstrated experience in developing and implementing data governance strategies, frameworks, and operating models

  • Remarkable demonstrated experience in developing training materials, conducting data governance workshops, and facilitating knowledge sharing sessions

  • Advanced demonstrated experience with data management tools and technologies.

  • Notable demonstrated experience in developing data governance frameworks, data dictionaries, data classification schemes, and data standards is desirable.

  • Remarkable demonstrated experience in ensuring data governance practices align with regulatory guidelines and managing compliance audits.
