SBDC SENIOR BUSINESS ADVISOR (SSBCI) - ID# 224293. CLOSING DATE: May 23, 2024, or until filled. Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Hawaii Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network, located on Hawai?i Island, Hawaii.

Telework (from employees residence city and state) may be permissible subject to review and approval by Principal Investigator and RCUH. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws. MONTHLY SALARY RANGE: $5,500 - $5,900/Mon. DUTIES: Per the Memorandum of Understanding with the Hawai?i Technology Development Corporation (HTDC), provides small business clients on Kaua?i, Maui, and Hawai?i Island with business advising, training, education, and other specialized services in the areas of accounting and financial management to help businesses and potential businesses owned and controlled by Socially and Economically Disadvantaged Individuals (SEDI-owned businesses) and very small business (VSB) to access State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) capital or participate in other federal or local programs that support small businesses. Meets Hawaii SBDC Network objectives, goals, and reporting requirements for advising, training, and other duties. Assists in the identification of potential SBDC advisors, volunteers, and interns. Engages in advocacy for small business interests and community development by serving on boards, committees, task forces and other public/private-sector, community groups on Kaua?i, Maui, and Hawai?i Island and at the state level. Engages in, as part of the Hawaii SBDC Network's quality improvement program, a wide variety of professional development in order to maintain credentials and professional knowledge, including attendance at conferences, meetings, seminars, training events, and workshops. Performs administrative duties in conformance with various governmental laws, directives, regulations, and policies, including meeting Hawaii SBDC Network reporting requirements, conducts public relations and outreach activities on Kaua?i, Maui, and Hawai?i Island. Includes attendance at required professional staff meetings. PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION

Masters Degree from an accredited college or

university

in

Business

or

related

field. (Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university with significant business development or consulting experience may substitute for a Masters Degree from an accredited college or university in Business or related field.).

EXPERIENCE

Two to four (2-4) years of experience in business assistance, consulting, small business management, or managerial consulting.

KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of the principles and requirements of starting and operating a successful small business in Hawaii. Knowledge of business conditions in Hawaii. Knowledge of the business counseling and consulting process, and business financing alternatives.

ABILITIES and SKILLS

Teaching, training, and public speaking skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including how to write high quality business plans. Strong financial analysis and accounting skills are necessary to effectively work with entrepreneurs and small business owners. Knowledge of business financing alternatives and the SSBCI capital access program and the ability to develop an effective professional network in the business financing and banking communities. Personal computer ability, including spreadsheet, word processing, data management software, and accounting programs (such as QuickBooks or Xero). Ability to quic ly obtain knowledge of the principles of starting and operating a successful small business in Hawaii. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with co-workers and supervisors, and people in the private

public

education

sectors. Must possess a valid drivers license (and if use of personal vehicle on the job is required, must also have valid personal drivers insurance equivalent to Hawaiis No-Fault Drivers Insurance) and maintain throughout the duration of employment.

Ability to effectively conduct work remotely (e.g., telework) as applicable. Post Offer/Employment Condition: Must be able to complete the UH Information Security Awareness Training (ISAT) within two (2) weeks from date of hire, and re-certify every twelve (12) months.
