Reference #: 4327580 THE POSITION Join us at the Department of Education and embark upon a challenging and rewarding new career opportunity!  We are seeking a Career and Technical Education Advisor I to provide leadership and technical assistance in the Nurse Aide Training Program for the federal Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (OBRA) of 1987 and PA Nurse Aide Residence Abuse Prevention Act 14 of 1997 to local operators of programs to train nurse assistants intended for employment in health care institutions.  If you have the necessary experience and foster an enthusiasm for helping others, we want to hear from you!

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Career and Technical Education Advisor I, specializing in healthcare occupations, you will assure a skilled workforce through quality career and technical education (CTE) services.  This entails completing onsite reviews of nurse aide training programs, utilizing the approved monitoring instrument based on Federal Regulations 42a CFR, Part 483 and Act 14 of 1997 State Regulations.  You will provide assistance to the bureau in the preparation of reports, state/federal plans, and the revision/interpretation of legislation, regulations, and standards as related to nurse aide training programs.  You will also assist with the process for approving nurse aide training program curricula submitted by locally operated nurse aide training programs.  It is essential to participate in professional development activities to stay current in trends in Pennsylvania's health care industry.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment

Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, and report to the office every Monday.  In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection.  If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Four years of professional career and technical education experience in the area of the parenthetical including one year of experience developing and implementing specialized career and technical education curricula or programs; or

An equivalent combination of professional career and technical education experience and training in the area of the parenthetical, which includes one year of professional experience developing and implementing specialized career and technical education curricula or programs.

Other Requirements:

This particular position also requires applicants to possess a minimum of two years of full-time professional career and technical education health occupations experience in a 9-12 or postsecondary environment.
