Colorado School Of Mines Defensive Football Assistant Coach- Part Time in Golden, Colorado

Engineering a world of possibilities The Defensive Football Assistant Coach- Part Time will assist the Head Coach in directing all activities of the sports program within NCAA, RMAC and Colorado School of Mines policies, guidelines, and procedures. The Assistant Coach- Part Time is responsible for supporting the athletic and academic development of student-athletes while focusing on student-athlete welfare.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Act as an Assistant Coach which includes coaching and decision making for the entire team. Assist in the recruitment of student-athletes and maintain a culture of personal accountability in student-athlete academic and athletic performance and conduct. Monitor academic performance and overall well-being of student-athletes. Under the supervision of the Head Football Coach, assist in the planning and direction of all practices and game activities. Assist with the preparation, organization, design and implementation of effective off-season programs, scouting reports and recruiting systems. Must be willing to participate in community engagement and donor relations in conjunction with the Director of Athletics and Head Football Coach. Under the direction of the Head Football Coach, plan and execute youth and prospect summer camps. Attend meetings as necessary. Travel, both in-state, and out of state, for contests and recruiting as required by the Head Coach. Effective and timely preparation and management of administrative functions related to the football program is required. Successfully complete all required NCAA coaches' curriculum and trainings. Facilitate team travel arrangements. Must be willing to work odd hours including, nights, weekends and holidays. Responsible for physical activity class instruction. Positively represent Colorado School of Mines and the Department of Athletics, including acting and dressing appropriately in practices, games and within the community. Teach sportsmanship and set a good moral example to Mines' student-athletes. Failure to comply with all NCAA, RMAC and Colorado School of Mines regulations and policies will be cause for termination.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Experience in coaching at the youth or collegiate level. CPR/AED and First Aid certifications. This position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate with many internal and external entities in a variety of ways. Must be able to communicate with coaches, student-athletes, athletics administration and prospective student-athletes and their families.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Demonstrated results leading and coaching a high-caliber sports program in a highly competitive, academic environment. Ability to represent a public persona that aligns with Mines values. Ability to work with a diverse community, alumni, Boosters and Mines Foundation. Ability to work closely with athletic training, and staff to facilitate prevention and recovery from injury of student-athletes.

Physical Requirements: Typical physical activity of coaching roles: standing for long periods of time, walking, occasional running, etc.
