Southwest District Health (SWDH) is recruiting aRegistered Dietitian, Public Health Senior (WIC Dietitian, Senior)to join the dedicated group of public health professionals in theFamily Section of the Family and Clinic Services Division.

    As aWIC Dietitianand public health employee, you will serve an active role in improving the health of your community. As part of a small, but mighty team, you will plan, develop, implement, and evaluate nutrition care and education programs for clients in the six-county area of SWDH. Your responsibilities will include program planning activities and related work. Additionally, you’ll provide nutrition assessment consultation and interventions for participants of the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. There may also be opportunities for training and supervising clinic staff and other related personnel.

    Our generous benefits package elevates the total compensation for a full-time WIC Dietitian. Our offering transforms the hourly pay range from $29.43 - $34.62/hour to an estimated $42.60 - $48.95/hour, showcasing the value we invest in your well-being and professional growth.

    Typical Duties:

    Candidates must be able to complete the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation and meet all the mandatory qualifications of the position.

  • Provide nutrition and health assessments at clinics

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district regulations

  • Develop individual care plans and make referrals as necessary

  • Prescribe food benefits for high-risk participants

  • Collaborate with other agencies and health professionals

  • Administer WIC benefits and determine eligibility

  • Prioritize and delegate tasks effectively

  • Complete training-related program reports

  • Investigate and resolve customer and staff complaints

  • Coordinate outreach to community partners and participants

  • Deliver presentations to various stakeholders

  • Review menu nutritional adequacy

  • Coordinate staff training and development

  • Organize nutrition education materials and conduct training sessions

  • Manage task assignments for support staff

  • Make recommendations for WIC service improvements

  • Conduct needs assessments at multiple levels

  • Evaluate program effectiveness and make adjustments

    Minimum Qualifications:

    You must possess all the minimum qualifications listed below to qualify for this position. All required experience and/or education must be listed under the work history section of this application OR on your resume and must include a detailed explanation of your roles and responsibilities at each relevant employer.

    Minimum Qualifications (MQ):

Food Service management and program planning and evaluationo Education principles and methods as applied to nutrition counseling and education

  • Must be certified as a Registered Dietitian by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and eligible for licensure in the State of Idaho as a Dietitian in accordance with Idaho Code, Section 54-03506 (licensure MUST be obtained PRIOR to appointment).

  • Good knowledge of:

  • Food Service management and program planning and evaluation

  • Education principles and methods as applied to nutrition counseling and education

  • Experience using a Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) pre-planned program

    MQ Specialty :

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Good knowledge of:

  • Public health and community organization relating to common health problems, basic disease etiologies and preventive strategies

  • Survey methods and basic statistics used to collect and interpret data

  • Training methods

    “Good knowledge” is typically gained through either a closely related bachelor's degree, 2-4 upper division college courses related to the subject and 2-4 years of mid-level work experience closely related to the subject, or a combination of coursework and experience that represents the knowledge level above.
