Job Description

The opening is a test development position for Oracle Database Autonomous JSON Document (AJD) Cloud Service and Mongo Listener area in Database Test and Tools development team.

Autonomous JSON Document Service (AJD) (https://www.oracle.com/in/autonomous-database/autonomous-json-database/) is a cloud document database service that makes it simple to develop JSON-centric applications. It features NoSQL-style document APIs (Oracle SODA and Oracle Database API for MongoDB), serverless scaling, high performance ACID transactions, comprehensive security, and low pay-per-use pricing. Autonomous JSON Database automates provisioning, configuring, tuning, scaling, patching, encrypting, and repairing of databases, eliminating database management and delivering 99.95% availability.

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, cloud services, applications, tools, networks etc. As a member of the Oracle's Database Cloud Services division, you will design, develop and deploy applications that run in Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure, and certify the applications against the Cloud software.

Autonomous Database Cloud Services Test and Tools Development team is looking for bright and talented engineers from top tier institutes to apply their ingenuity to test Oracle’s flagship product. It is an opportunity to demonstrate your skills as a Test Development Engineer for Oracle’s Autonomous cloud enabled platforms by developing cloud enabled tests for various features in Database, Cloud services and Engineered systems.

We need to develop tools/framework and test applications/scripts and automate the test setup needed for the features of Oracle Kernel code we are testing. These test programs runs fully automated on a server farm - so our test framework need to configure, run test applications/inject failures, and verify results by itself. Most of the features would need very specific test programs/frameworks.

The opening is for an individual contributor position in Autonomous Database Cloud test and tools development team.

This is a programming position as all the tests/frameworks are applications which should exercise a feature in the yet to be released version of Oracle product.

In this position, you will be working very closely with the feature development team to create a test plan/tools/infrastructure needed for the feature.

You will also be reviewing the feature specifications (Functional & Design spec) before it is finalized as your inputs from a customer perspective might be important in the implementation.

Our primary development platform is Linux, and depending on the area you work on the coding would involve Perl, Python, C or Java to develop test programs. The challenge and the advantage is in understanding the technology and apply it in a practical setup.

The group:

' Autonomous Database Cloud test & tools development ' group (part of the database server group of Server Technologies Division) works on the upcoming releases of Oracle database server, Autonomous Database cloud services & Engineered systems enveloping a wide range of technologies.

The group with its state of the art development infrastructure and practices, helps shape technology that has been important for a large number of Fortune 2000 and other companies. The group foresees Database product and Autonomous Database Cloud Services usage scenarios and develops automated test framework, tests, and tools to simulate real life scenarios to ensure that customers get the highest quality Autonomous Database Cloud Services.

Requirements:

  • B.Tech/M.Tech C.S. from a premier institution

  • Exposure and experience in any of the languages or scripts - Java, C, SQL, Perl, Python

  • Knowledge of software development processes (design, development, and testing)

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills

  • Work on multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced, exciting, and rapidly growing environment

  • Candidates with good relational database concepts and fundamentals is desirable

  • Experience with Oracle or any high end relational databases as application developer (server side) is desirable

  • Ability and enthusiasm to learn new technologies, adeptness in seeking solutions to complex problems

  • Good verbal and written communication

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. 3-5+ years of software engineering or related experience.
