Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Research Program Coordinator to collaborate with faculty on specialized research and community programs focused on improving substance use disorder prevention and care. The ideal candidate will work closely with program faculty on the administrative, dissemination, and research aspects of a program aimed at translating our work to address community gaps in addiction care. The candidate may also work on specific research studies (e.g., conducting patient interviews). This position is within the Psychiatry Department at University of Michigan Medical School.

Responsibilities*

1. Organization and communication of a new program focused on translating and disseminating evidence-based addiction care and engaging communities.

2. Developing training materials for clinicians and communities.

3. Coordinate meetings, events and trainings.

4. Write and prepare dissemination products.

5. Assist in data collection tasks of research studies (e.g., conducting qualitative interviews with patients, etc.).

Required Qualifications*

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field (social work, psychology, public health, etc.).

• Minimum of four years of directly related research experience.

• Experience working with and advocating for underserved populations with substance use and other mental health conditions.

• Experience with communication including developing websites and other communication platforms.

• Experience in clinical research (including with IRB and other regulatory requirements).

• Highly motivated and organized, with strong attention to detail, excellent multi-tasking and problem solving ability, and strong record-keeping skills in a fast paced environment.

• The job will require flexibility across tasks and work engaging communities; therefore, strong communication skills, including excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills is required.

• Demonstrated time-management skills and ability to set and meet goals, working both independently and as part of a team.

• Strategic thinking and planning skills.

• Our team communicates primarily over Zoom meetings, email and instant messages, thus comfort with technology and remote communication is required.

• Reliable transportation and ability to travel to office in Ann Arbor, MI.

• Must be a self-starter, able to work independently, and able to work on multiple projects simultaneously. We are looking for someone who enjoys what they do!

Desired Qualifications*

• Masters in related fields (social work, psychology, public health, etc.) is desired

• Prior training and experience with motivational interviewing is desired.

Work Schedule

Primarily days, with the need to occasionally train/supervise/take work scheduled shifts during evening/weekends for patient-facing tasks (e.g., as needed to meet the needs of the population we serve) or occasional program events (e.g., trainings, conferences, etc.). These events and tasks may involve onsite (if holding an in-person training/conference) or virtually.

Work Locations

Currently, work is hybrid with most days from home, but some days in-person at our office in Ann Arbor, MI.
